The 2016 and 6th Annual Battle of the Bay/Watersport Festival lived up to its title this year.

The weekend festival offered up some of the most spectacular weather creating amazing SF Bay battle conditions. For the first time ever in the US the event played host to 7 different watersport disciplines that included the world’s best competing for 3 different championships…Battle of the Bay Championship, Pacific Coast Kite Foil Championship and Northern California Windsurfing Championship.

Witnessing the exciting competition were thousands of spectators packing the beaches of Presidio National Park and they were not disappointed. World class SUP competitors racing along the shore, Kite Foil world champions racing at breakneck speed and many of the best Windsurfing competitors crisscrossing the bay together with hundreds of sailboats. All under the shadow of Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island.

The Battle of the Bay from its beginning has been about bringing like-minded watersport enthusiast of all skill levels and ages together in a family fun environment and this year may have been its best.

Congratulations to all of this year’s champions, division winners and all of those who competed. Big thanks to all of the support from friends, family, sponsors and volunteers.

Finally, we must never forget that the simple pleasure of being on the water, laughter and smiles and lasting memories are what this time together is really all about.

Mahalo!
